LINCOLNSHIRE, ILL. (January 27, 2012) --- Yesterday evening, January 26, Newman Haas Racing welcomed some twenty open wheel racing fans for a visit to its racing facility in Lincolnshire Illinois. Those attending were treated to a look inside this famous team.
The tour visitors assembled in the foyer of the team's headquarters where they had a chance to see over one hundred of the trophies collected by the team. Once the tour got underway they were treated to an inside look at the sub assembly department, including, gearbox, suspension, damper and electronics. The visitors were able to get a true hands-on experience of holding a race wheel gun, the incredible difference in weight between a carbon and a cast iron brake set up, and what it is like to hold the steering wheel used at Indy.
On leaving the sub assembly dept one of the highlights was found in the car build shop where two newly delivered Dallara cars, that had only just been unpacked earlier that day, were to be seen.
After the car build shop, it was on to an introduction into the wonders of carbon fiber and how it goes from a flexible cloth to something that can protect a driver in a 200 mile per crash.
The tour ended with a question and answer session with Chief Engineer Craig Hampson and General Manager Brian Lisles.
